Abstract
The intensification of economic activity and the increasing resource orientation in the East of Russia due to the current geopolitical situation may lead to a deterioration of the environmental situation in this region. Mitigating the consequences of economic activity is possible provided that the directions of environmental policy reflected in environmental protection programmes are adjusted in the context of strategic regional development plans. In practice, however, there is often a fragmen tation of goals, inconsistency of the indicators used, and a general lack of coordination among pro grammes in various spheres of regional development. The aim of the study is to reveal the incon sistency of certain indicators intended to ensure environmental protection and recorded in the environmental programmes of the subjects of the Far Eastern Federal District with the long-term socio-economic development plans for the district. The research hypothesis is that regional environmental programmes and the indicators used in them do not fully correspond to the economic devel opment trends of the territory. The information base of the study included the National Programme for the Socio-Economic Development of the Far East, the “Environmental Protection” programmes of the region’s subjects adopted for 2020–2025, and data from Rosstat.
