This article examines the interaction between regional industry complexes, government agencies, and society in the context of sustainable development. The author analyzes the potential of the ESG concept as a tool for synchronizing the interests of business and the region, helping to overcome the negative consequences of the “historical rut” and public mistrust of centralization. The article pays particular attention to media support for the recentralization strategy. It proposes a two-stage performance assessment system, including professional indicators and public oversight through dashboards, to increase transparency and trust in government and business.
